Clintondale Community Schools District appoints new board trustee

Clintondale Community Schools District appoints new board trustee

CLINTON TOWNSHIP—The Clintondale Community Schools (CCS) Board of Education has appointed Wilbur L. Jones as a new school board trustee. Jones was appointed in a 6-0 vote on March 11.

“I am proud to welcome Wilbur Jones to the CCS Board of Education,” said Jared Maynard, Clintondale Community Schools Board of Education president. “His positive outlook, past experience and dedication to students will help move our district forward.”

Jones, a 1982 graduate of Clintondale High School, is a life-long member of the community. He served 20 years in the United States Army, with tours in the Persian Gulf War, Bosnia, Germany and Kosovo before retiring in 2003. He taught in the Pontiac Community Schools Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp until his retirement in June 2023. Jones is also a deacon at Greater Life International Ministries in Clinton Township. He earned a master’s degree from Liberty University.

“I see my role as someone who can utilize my knowledge as a teacher and my experience and leadership as a retired soldier to help drive change at the board level and support our new superintendent,” said Jones. “There is nothing more important to me than my community and the education the children receive. My retirement is not a time to rest for me. I gave to my country and now it is time for me to give more to my community.”
