Superintendent Update

Superintendent Update

As we return from spring break, I would like to bring a few important things to your attention. First, all Clintondale Community Schools and District offices will be closed this Friday for Good Friday; therefore, students and staff will report to work and school, Monday–Thursday this week.

The district will send out phone calls, text messages and emails to fully notify and remind staff and families.

District staff went through ALICE training in mid–March to ensure we are prepared in the case of any armed intruder invades any of our schools. Over the next few months to close the school year, our teachers, support staff and administrators will be discussing the updated protocols for safety within CCS with our students. The district will continue to invest in new and improved safety measures, protocols and procedures. If students come home and discuss these procedures, please do not be alarmed as we are continuing to explore greater safety measures and procedures for our students.

Next, testing begins this week. Our eighth-grade students will take the PSAT this Wednesday, April 13. Sixth- and seventh-grade students will attend classes on Wednesday virtually and should not report to school. If sixth- and seventh-grade students report to school, parents will be called to be picked up their child immediately. Students should make sure to charge their chromebooks to ensure they are in attendance. Please be advised, if students do not attend each class, they will be marked absent in each class.

High School assessments also begin this week. Principal Cargill has developed a letter and schedule that can be viewed here.

Elementary assessments will begin the following week. Principals will be sending out documentation concerning the testing schedule. Research shows in order for students to do well on the assessments, they will need to have a good night’s sleep and a heathly meal for breakfast. Parents please help us ensure the aforementioned steps happen to help your child(ren) to be successful on the state assessments.

As we close the 2021-22 school year, there will be different events and ceremonies for staff, students, and families to attend. On May 26, the district will be hosting our Spring Enrollment Carnival from 6-8 p.m. at the Don Seiferlein Stadium. There will be other senior events and activities. Please review the district’s website for the most up to date information.

Finally, I would like to implore you to continue the hard work, dedication and commitment that you have shown throughout the entire year. Wow, I cannot believe we have completed ¾ of the school year and it will soon be summer. As you prepare for the summer, the district will send out documentation for parents to sign their children up for summer school. Parker Elementary School will host K-5 summer school session. Clintondale High School will host grades 6-12. Also, the district has sent out a survey to determine who may be interested in the new CCS iCampus Virtual Academy for the 2022-23 school year. Please complete the survey and submit it.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

All the Best,
