Key Club makes generous donation
CLINTON TOWNSHIP – Clintondale Key Club officers were guests at a special breakfast hosted by Clinton Valley Kiwanis, on Thursday.
The Clintondale students were invited to present a donation to Gianna House, a safe residence in Eastpointe for at-risk, pregnant young mothers-to-be and mothers with their newborn infants who are homeless and/or housing insecure.
Jamie Spriet, board president of the Gianna House Foundation, was excited to accept the cartons of diapers, wipes, and formulas from Clintondale seniors Shar Nieman, Sherry Smith, and Jasmin Carmona-Almanza, and club moderator Carol Hyso.
“We are grateful,” Spriet said. “Thank you very much for this gift today. I’ll gladly load up my truck with these items.”
Key Club members purchased the items with funds raised through a paczki sale in March.
“This year our event was a ‘Poonch-Key’ sale,” Carmona-Almanza said. “It’s a very popular sale that we have every year at our school. Last year, sadly, we couldn’t do it because of online schooling, but this year, thankfully, we were back, and we chose Gianna House to be the recipient of our donation.”
