Nieman receives Kiwanis scholarship

Nieman receives Kiwanis scholarship

CLINTON TOWNSHIP – The only four-year member of Clintondale’s Key Club, senior Shar Nieman lit up the room with her smile when she learned she was the recipient of the 2022 Clinton Valley Kiwanis Scholarship.

“We have at least two scholarships that we give out every year, and one is definitely always to our Clintondale Community Schools and the Key Club in particular,” said Kiwanis’ Anna Gloria, who made the scholarship announcement during Thursday’s special breakfast at The Pantry restaurant.

“We’re very happy to announce that Shar Nieman is our recipient this year from Clintondale,” Gloria said. “That’s a $1,000 scholarship for Shar. She’s going to Macomb Community College, and we congratulate her very much and also thank her for being a Key Club member for four years and your involvement that you’ve had over the years and doing such wonderful service work in the community.”

Nieman, who carries a 3.7 grade-point average in the classroom, plans to studying American Sign Language and creative writing in college. Aside from the Key Club and its many community activities, Nieman is also involved in National Honor Society and Dollars for Scholars. She was also recognized this week as a student of the month for May.

During Thursday’s breakfast, Key Club officers, including Nieman, presented Gianna House with a donation of diapers, wipes, and formula.
