Covid update: Dec. 31, 2021
As you know, Michigan's COVID-19 case numbers are beginning to become very astounding and overwhelming; therefore, it is the top priority of the administration to keep our staff and students safe. I have asked our principals to reach out to staff to check on everyone and conduct a benchmark of who may be sick with the virus or COVID-like symptoms.
If you are exhibiting any of the COVID symptoms or have tested positive for the virus, please contact your principal, supervisor and Nurse Pitts.
I will be making a decision concerning what the school week may look like next week, based on the information I receive from the administrators and the district nurse over the next few days. At this time, it is my intent for school to open next week with in-person learning.
Parents, I am going to ask you to notify your child's school if your child has tested positive for COVID or has been exposed to the virus. PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD(REN) AT HOME IF HE/SHE TEST POSITIVE OR IS EXPERIENCING ANY COVID-LIKE SYMPTOMS.
Please help us mitigate the spread of the virus by being proactive. I would you like for you to email your child's principal. Please see the administrators emails below:
Clintondale High School: Meloney Cargill, Principal; Shauna Hemler, Assistant Principal
Clintondale Middle School: Maurice Woods, Principal
Rainbow Elementary School: Cara Cottrell Booms, Principal
Parker Elementary School: Shannon King, Principal
McGlinnen Elementary School: Jennifer Marella, Principal
Clintondale Continuing Education Center: Dawn Sanchez, Principal
Additionally, attached to this communication, you will find two letters. One letter is sent from our Michigan State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dr. Michael Rice and the other from the Macomb County Health Department concerning COVID-19 and CDC's new five-day recommendation for return. You may have already received some of this information; however, please read it and review it for clarity and understanding.
Finally, in an effort to continue to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within our schools, the district sent out a survey to all parent email addresses on December 20, 2021 concerning masks, vaccinations, and other safety measures and precautions. Please submit the survey by Monday, January 10, 2022, at 12 p.m.
As we begin the New Year holiday, I would like to encourage you and your families to be safe and well by following the guidance from our Michigan health officials. We have made it through another calendar year and almost halfway through the toughest school year in modern history. Please don't give up, you are resilient by already withstanding these past two unprecedented and challenging years. Stay focused on your priorities. If you need to refocus, this is a perfect time to do so. I believe in you! Together, we will conquer COVID-19.
Please monitor the district's website to stay abreast of updates from the Office of the Superintendent and the latest information released from the Michigan Department of Education and Macomb County Health Department.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
On the behalf of the Clintondale Community Schools' Board of Education, the administration, and myself, we wish you a safe, healthy, prosperous and new year!
Be safe. Be well!
Yours in education,
Rodriguez F. Broadnax, Ed.S.
Superintendent
