School threats were unfounded
In an effort to be transparent with our stakeholders, I would like to inform you that the district has had several threats; however, it was determined by the Clinton Township Police Department and investigators that all threats were unfounded and there is no validity to them.
The administration has held several meetings with the chief and captain of the Clinton Township Police Department. We are partnering together to ensure staff and students receive the proper training concerning armed intruders and are prepared in the case of an extreme emergency or crisis. In the coming months, the district will provide the framework to parents and families of what the armed intruder training will consist of.
Additionally, in the final week before the holiday break, I have asked building level administrators (principals) to conduct a lockdown drill at each school to allow teachers and students to discuss the preliminary stages and procedures in the case of an armed intruder. Please understand, the safety and security of our students and staff is the top priority of our district.
We appreciate the work of our local law enforcement agency as they continue to work to keep our schools and community safe.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Yours in education,
Clintondale Community Schools
